HEALTH: The Choice is Yours
I find myself in an interesting predicament. If people actually followed the advice in this book, my colleagues and I would be performing far fewer operations, ICUs and emergency rooms would have beds to spare, and many hospitals would be forced to shut down because of lack of customers! And that's fine with me.
I wear two hats. I am a Board-Certified Neurological Surgeon, which means I perform surgery on the brain and spine. I am dually certified in Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine. Directing patients to the right lifestyle is an important component of my practice. Although I love performing surgery, I would much rather show people how to stay well - and age well - than have to operate on them after the fact.
I walk the talk. I am also a bodybuilder and have earned a CSCS honorarium from the National Strength and Conditioning Association. I am not the "Do as I say - but not as I do" physician charging you to lose fat and get healthy. It's an embarrassment to the profession that about half of all physicians are either overweight or obese! I live this life. Have a look at the pictures. My goal here is to empower you with knowledge to achieve optimal health.
The truth is, most ailments of modern-day society are preventable. Yes, most strokes, dementia, heart attack, diabetes, spine disorders, and even most cancers, are preventable. I haven't been sick in years, and am in the best physical and mental shape of my life. YOU CAN BE TOO! It's not that difficult, but it does require work and a bit of education. So follow along carefully. Read and re-read. Ask questions (I have provided my contact information). And get going! No thinking here. This is your life, your health. There is nothing more important .

Too many people spend their lives chasing that hard-earned dollar, investing little time in their own health for "lack of time," only to develop a terminal disease in mid-life. It's too late to stop smoking after you've been diagnosed with lung cancer. The cat is already out of the bag. This disease-oriented approach to health is a reflection of the failed medical system that exists today; one that treats problems after-the-fact. After you've developed that malignant brain tumor or had the heart attack. Then and only then is time of the essence. And the race begins. One's perspective changes. The once unimportant becomes paramount. The word "family" takes on new meaning.

It's true, diseases don't just happen overnight. Risk factors accumulate as we age, modifiable risk factors. And thankfully they are modifiable, as this gives you control! Those of you with a strong family history of coronary disease, I am talking to you. You are not destined to succumb to a fatal heart attack at age 35! Yes, a positive family history is a risk factor for coronary artery disease, but there are many others. Do you hear me? There are many other modifiable risk factors. You have ample opportunity to prevent disease .
