Poison-Proof your Dog
Warnings about malicious poisoning have been a major concern among dog owners for some time now. You might like to think 'it won't happen to me', but it's becoming increasingly clear that the danger lurks right outside our own front door. Laying down bait laced with poison or embedded with razor blades seems to have almost become a trend among dog-haters - and not just in cities. This book gives worried dog owners a well-thought-out, effective training plan to protect their dog and transform him from a hairy vacuum cleaner into a good dog who points out tempting treats instead of wolfing them down. The author also shows why some well-intentioned advice doesn't work. With preventative measures from muzzle-training to emergency signals in case your dog does manage to pick up something, the book offers practical help until training becomes established. Sonja Meiburg has been a dog trainer for many years and worked as an instructor in various different associations. Since 2006, she has been passing on her knowledge in her own dog-training school. She has been using clicker training since 1998. Her knowledge comes from many national and international teachers, including Ute Blaschke-Berthold, Martin Pietralla, Kay Laurence and Mary Ray. She uses clicker training not only for basic obedience and tricks, but also for dog sports and behavioural therapy. Sonja Meiburg was also involved in the programme 'Zeit für Tiere' (time for animals), broadcast on German TV station Bayerischer Rundfunk, and was an advisor behind the camera for the documentary 'Das geheime Leben unserer Hunde' (the secret lives of our dogs), broadcast by the German tv-channel ZDF.
